About Pros Around
What the site is, how it works and where it is open.
What is Pros Around?
Pros Around is a free website where people in the United States find local professionals, from home services to dentists and lawyers, and contact the one they choose. Customers pay nothing. The pros pay for the calls and quote requests they receive. The site is run by Bud Innovative LLC.
How does Pros Around work?
First pick the service you need and your city. Then compare the local businesses listed, each with its licence details where the state publishes them. Finally call the pro you choose or send them a quote request. Your request goes to that one pro, not to a crowd.
Pros Around is not live in my city. What can I do?
Search for your city on the home page. If we are not open there yet, join the waitlist on its page and we will tell you once, when we open. The cities that are live are listed on the home page and on the All cities page.
How do I contact Pros Around?
Use the Contact page: choose a subject, write your message, and we reply by email. The mailing address is Pros Around, 1207 Delaware Ave #844, Wilmington, DE 19806.
Services and pros
What you can find, and what we do and do not check.
Which services can I find?
Home services such as plumbing, HVAC, roofing and electrical, and other local professionals, from dentists to lawyers. The Services page lists them all, and you can search by service and city on this page.
How do you check a pro's licence?
Pros in licensed trades (such as contractors, lawyers, health providers and financial or insurance advisers) must give us their licence number before they go live. We check it against the record of the board that issued it: the name, whether it is active, and when it expires. Some are looked up automatically and others are checked by a person. A listing says "verified" only after that check, and it shows the number. We re-check on a schedule, more often for law, health, finance and insurance.
Do you check insurance or run background checks on pros?
No. We do not check insurance, run background checks or inspect anyone's work. A licence tells you a pro is registered with their state, not that the job will be done well. Ask the pro for proof of insurance before you hire. Pros Around does not perform the services listed and does not guarantee any pro's work, price, licence or availability.
For Customers
What you get, and what it costs you.
Does it cost me anything to use Pros Around?
No. Pros Around is free for customers, always. You never pay to search, call or send a quote request. The pros are the ones who pay, and only when you contact them.
Will lots of pros call me after I send a request?
No. Your request goes to the one pro you chose and is never sold to several. That is the main difference from lead sites that send the same request to many contractors at once. If the pro you chose cannot take the job, or does not reply in time, another local professional may contact you instead.
Do I need an account to contact a pro?
No. Customers do not need an account. To request a quote you give your name, phone number and what you need done.
Are the reviews real? Who can leave a review?
Only someone who contacted that pro through Pros Around can review them. When a pro marks a job as won, we email the customer a link that works once, and the pro never sees it. Pros can reply to a review in public but cannot edit or delete it, and they cannot pay to change their rating. The rating is the average of published reviews, with the number of reviews shown.
Does paying change which pros I see first?
Yes, in part, and we say so. A page lists pros by their plan first (higher plans are listed higher, and each page has a limited number of paid seats), then a Featured badge, then review quality. Within the same plan, reviews decide. A pro cannot pay to change a rating or hide a review. Anything paid for is labelled, for example "Sponsored".
Do you sell my information?
No. We do not sell your information to advertisers or data brokers. Your request, with your name, phone, email and the consent you gave, goes to the one pro you chose, who pays Pros Around for it. The companies that run the service for us (hosting, phone, email, payments) handle it only to provide the service.
For Service Professionals
How leads, pricing and refunds work for a business.
How do I sign up and go live?
Sign up from the Partner page in about 10 minutes: choose your service and city, then build your profile. You can list for free. Your listing shows on the city page once your profile is complete and we have checked it. Paid plans change your price per lead and your order in the list. Your dashboard has a "Set up your listing" checklist that walks you through it.
What counts as a lead? What am I charged for?
A lead is a phone call of 30 seconds or more, or a quote request. Repeat contacts from the same person within 24 hours count once. You are only charged for leads sent to you.
Does a lead go to other pros as well?
No. A call or request goes to the one company whose listing the customer chose. We do not sell the same lead to several pros. If that company cannot take the job, or does not act on a request within 15 minutes (a call gets the first ring only), it goes to the next local professional, and you are only charged for leads you keep: a request that is moved on is refunded.
How much do leads cost? How does pricing work?
You pay per qualified lead from a prepaid balance. The price depends on your service, the city the lead came from and your plan, and prices follow demand so they can change. A higher plan lowers the price per lead. You always see the price in your dashboard before you buy. The Pricing page in the pro dashboard lets you choose a service and a city and see the price of a lead on every plan, as at the current date. There is no contract.
Is there a free trial? Are the first leads free?
New pros can start with a limited number of free leads. When the free leads are used up, you are asked to add money to your balance to keep receiving leads. Balance & billing in your dashboard shows your free leads. Licensed trades join the trial only after their licence number is verified.
What if a lead is spam or a wrong number?
Dispute it from your dashboard within 7 days of receiving it. We review each dispute, and if we agree it was spam or a wrong number, the amount charged for it is returned to your balance. You see the result in your dashboard.
Does my balance expire? Can I get my money back?
Your balance does not expire, and it is one balance for all the services of your business. It is not refundable, including what is left when you close your account, with one exception: the 30-day return. If a card payment was taken in error (for example, charged twice), contact us and we will refund the extra charge.
Run a local service business?
People in your city search Pros Around and then call you or send a quote request. You pay for the leads you receive, from a balance you top up.
- No contract, and your balance does not expire
- Each lead goes to one pro, never shared
- A bad lead? Dispute it within 7 days for a refund
